Annual Open Enrollment Period for Qualified Health Plans Begins November 16, 2023

The annual open enrollment period for Qualified Health Plans on the New York State of Health exchange starts November 16, 2023. Go to the New York State of Health website to look at plan options and enroll. You must enroll by December 15, 2023 for coverage starting January 1, 2024.

Even if you miss open enrollment, you still have options to get coverage!

  • Medicaid, Essential Plan and Child Health Plus enrollment is year-round!

  • If you have experienced certain life events, you may qualify for a special enrollment period for a Qualified Health Plan.  Need help in figuring it all out?  There is FREE help available to you!

  • In 2023 only, the State is extending Open Enrollment for Qualified Health Plans all the way to May 2024.  This was announced in Crain's Health Plus on Nov. 7th, 2023.   This extension is meant to coincide with the "unwinding" of the Public Health Emergency that ends in April 2024. Throughout this time, many Medicaid beneficiaries are going through the renewal process, and may no longer be eligible for Medicaid.  Many will be able to transition to a Qualified Health Plan.  See more about the "unwinding" for Medicaid recipients in New York State here

    •  However, in order to get coverage in a QHP for Jan. 1, 2024, you must enroll on NYStateofHealth by Dec. 15, 2023.
